The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) is a pan-African not-for-profit organisation based in Nairobi that aims to increase the capacity of African academic institutions and researchers to contribute stronger evidence based research on public policy that can have a positive impact on pro-poor development policies in Africa. It was established in response to the declining capacity in political and social science research output in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Inclusive and Just Social Protection in Africa project created constructive spaces of engagement for social protection technicians, government policy makers and multiple stakeholders, notably program beneficiaries, grass roots organizations, civil society organizations, labour organizations, among others. This programme provided a platform that was moderated by evidence and supported collegial conversations deliberated through political processes and shifting contestations in Sub-Saharan Africa. We organized our evidence review on three topical areas: (1) Theoretical underpinning of social protection in Africa; (2) Interventions in social protection in Africa; and (3) Innovations in social protection in Africa.
A series of three webinars was held with collaborating institutions to engage stakeholders in the evidence building process.
