Ongoing Project: Political Settlements Analysis of Inclusive Growth in Africa
This research seeks to examine the constraints to wage employment in agriculture and agro-processing schemes in the context of Africa’s recent ‘jobless growth’ and the extent to which the concepts of ‘political economy and political settlements’ provide new knowledge to inform public policy and governance. PASGR is facilitating the study in Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria funded by DFID and IDRC, with plans to roll it to other countries.
On April 29-30, PASGR organised an inception workshop for 23 researchers, policy actors from the three countries, subject experts, the principal investigator, funding organisations and PASGR staff to discuss the analytical and methodological issues around the study. Completion is expected by the end of June 2016. For more information on the study refer to the framework paper and inception workshop report.
