The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) is a pan-African not-for-profit organisation based in Nairobi that aims to increase the capacity of African academic institutions and researchers to contribute stronger evidence based research on public policy that can have a positive impact on pro-poor development policies in Africa. It was established in response to the declining capacity in political and social science research output in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Research & Policy (RP) department facilitates capacity development and knowledge production for policy relevant social and governance research in Africa through collaborations with researchers based in their home institutions. The overall objectives are: (1) To provide high quality and transformative policy-relevant research to varied audiences; (2) Integrate policy actors into the different phases of the governance research process; and (3) To facilitate the systematic institutionalisation of research-policy interfaces across Africa. To this effect, the department continues to excel in providing quality scientific and non-scientific outputs to support engagement with policy actors in the African continent and globally.
