The Partnership for African Social and Governance (PASGR) and Network of Impact Evaluation Researchers in Africa(NIERA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see both organisations carry out mutually-beneficial research and training in public policy and governance.
The MoU will see both organisations jointly work together to build capacity, implement collaborative projects, carry out policy outreach for evidence informed decision making
During the MoU signing, PASGR’s Executive Director, Dr. Anthony Mveyange noted that the partnership will see both PASGR and NIERA leverage on each other’s, knowledge base and uniqueness to strengthen and enhance excellence in impact evaluation on public policy. ‘’We will ensure that PASGR’s trainings on Impact Evaluation and Research Methods for Public Policy are availed to NIERA’’, he said. He added that PASGR’s graduates in Masters and PhD Public Policy programmes, through this collaboration, would have an opportunity for mentorship and internship opportunities at NIERA.
The Network Chair, Prof. Amos Njuguna noted that the MoU signing would strengthen and increase the diversity of both parties through introductions and linkages of like-minded organisations. ‘’This MoU will make it possible for each party to avail its network of African institutions, researchers, policy actors and its communities of practice for Impact Evaluation joint activities’’, he said.
The MoU signing at the Fairview Hotel on 10 December 2021, was preceded by a panel discussion on impact evaluation in research. The panelists were Dr. Anthony Mveyange, Executive Director PASGR, Prof. Amos Njuguna, NIERA Network Chair, Dr. Pauline Ngimwa, PASGR’s PDT Programme Manager and moderated by Jennifer Nyakinya Program Manager NIERA.
