PASGR seeks to recruit a Statistician and an intern to provide technical support to our Programmes research teams. The Statistician will specifically support the research programme titled African Youth Pathways to Resilience and Systems Change (AYPReS). The primary objective of AYPReS is to explore the factors that drive youth resilience and how their lived experiences, voice, agency, and perceptions of sustainability and system change can effectively contribute to creating responsive programmes, policies, and practices. The programme aims to generate credible insights that promote effective and sustainable youth access to dignified and fulfilling work. AYPReS is being conducted in ten African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Benin, Togo, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Specific Roles
Statistician
While country research will identify research gaps, there is a need for advanced statistical expertise to enhance data measurements, conduct quality checks, validate findings, and support evidence synthesis across diverse contexts.
Reporting to the Head of Research Programme, the Statistician will play a critical role in ensuring that all data collection tools align with the research questions and outputs in both English and French, meeting PASGR’s standards of analytical robustness, comparability, and policy relevance. This engagement is central to reinforcing the credibility, reliability, and overall quality of the programme’s knowledge products before publication and dissemination.

The selected candidates will collaborate with distinguished scholars and leading researchers and practitioners across Africa.
The Research Intern will work closely with PASGR’s Research and Policy team to provide technical and administrative support in the design, implementation, and communication of research projects. The intern will work under the mentorship of a designated Programme Officer or Principal Investigator and will contribute to reviewing synthesis reports, conducting literature reviews, supporting fieldwork planning, engaging in data management, assisting with report writing, and participating in stakeholder engagement, all while having opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.
