Top Conflict Study Scholar joins Research Committee

Prof Funmi Olonisakin is the newest member of PASGR’s Research Committee. She replaces Prof Achola Pala Okeyo, whose tenure ended in the year under review.

A holder of a PhD from King’s College London, Olonisakin is a Professor of Security, Leadership and Development at King’s College. She is the founding director of the African Leadership Centre (ALC), which aims to build the next generation of African scholars and analysts in cutting edge knowledge on conflict, security and development on the continent.

Her work, which bridges academia and policy/practice, has contributed to strategic thinking in post-conflict contexts and to regional organizations such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union.

Olonisakin’s research experience includes positions in the Centre for Defence Studies (King’s College London), where she co-directed the African Security Unit; at the Institute for Strategic Studies (University of Pretoria, South Africa) and in the Department of Political Science (University of Lagos, Nigeria).
